Greenwich Millennium Village – Amazon Eco Cycle Locker & Bin Lockers

Designed by one of the world’s most esteemed post-war architects, Ralph Erskine; Greenwich Millennium Village is a major real estate development on the Greenwich Peninsula that is founded on the tenets of the urban village model.

An ethos that focuses on delivering a community centric environment, the project is also committed to utilising low-energy building techniques and renewable energy technologies for the benefit of its inhabitants.

With the 3,000-unit site currently undergoing work on several parallel phases, our team was hired to deliver a wide range of bespoke bin and bicycle storage solutions.

Our solution

To meet the site’s requirements for low-energy building techniques, our team designed, supplied, and installed 18 Premium Amazon Eco Bin and Bike Lockers to several of the individual housing plots – utilising FSC certified timber cladding to underline the sustainability credentials of the development.

Each store was designed to store two household wheelie bins and two bikes, with each benefitting from their own secure compartment and divider between sections. Access to the bin section was made possible both via the frontal gates, or via the gas-strut assisted hinged roof section for ease of day-to-day use.

Secured by Design compliance was a must-have on this project, meaning all products had to be designed to deliver a high standard of resistance to thieves, in strict accordance with the official police security initiative. A combination of inlayed mesh panelling, Sold Secure accredited locks and non-returnable fixings were used throughout to meet these guidelines.

Greenwich Millennium Village was a great example of how our team can deliver products specifically tailored to the requirements of the developers, architects, and planners- creating a product suitable for all parties. We are now proud to have completed a total of four phases of this landmark scheme.
