Northstowe | Bespoke Amazon Eco Stores and Shelter

Northstowe is an ambitious new town project five miles northwest of Cambridge that is anticipated to have 10,000 properties and a population of 24,000 residents on completion.

Lockhart Way is a cornerstone development of the Northstowe project, offering modern community orientated design coupled with sustainably focused development techniques.

As this project gears up to completion, we were recruited to provide the site with a diverse range of products.

Our solution

After meeting with the clients and surveying the site, our team was tasked with designing, manufacturing and delivering an array of custom-made products to the site.

A bespoke Premium Amazon Eco Enclosure crafted from FSC-certified larch timber was developed for the site, providing a durable and aesthetically pleasing structure for the future residents.

Designed to accommodate this new community’s needs, the bike shelter offers 40 parking spaces, courtesy of 20 Sheffield Stands.

The enclosure features a sedum roof, consisting of 12-month matured sedum plants, that promotes local biodiversity.

This living roof not only adds a touch of greenery to the surroundings but also offers natural water management benefits.

The shelter’s larch panelling is complemented by a jet-black fascia, including a border that seamlessly integrates with the sedum roof to create a cohesive and visually appealing structure.

To ensure efficient water drainage, a gutter and downpipe system has been incorporated, designed to perfectly match the roof fascia and efficiently channel rainwater.

To create the shelter’s framework, 100mm x 100mm square hollow section steel was utilised to provide a sturdy structure that’s built to last.

Entry to the shelter comes via two single swing gates with gas closers that are equipped with access control.

To add an additional luxurious feel to the site, 30 of the properties were also provided with Amazon Eco private bike stores.

Each of these private stores were installed with Signet Locks Superlock Latch Deadlock to provide a high level of security for the homeowners.

Also made from larch timber and with tongue and groove panelling, these stores complement the modern aesthetic of the development project.

Stepping away from our traditional expertise of providing bike storage for our clients, the team was tasked with delivering 43 meter cabinets to the client.

Made from 2mm thick steel and powder coated to a memorable light blue, they safely house electrical components whilst having a sturdy design that’s built to last.

Personalised with each property’s number, these cabinets are clearly identifiable without detracting from the visual appeal of the development.

This project was a great example of our team delivering bespoke products to meet the specific requirements of a client.

Having recently revisited the site, it is great to see that they are making a valuable contribution to this stylish development project.
