At the forefront of innovation within the automotive technology sector, McLaren Technology Group is one of Formula One’s most illustrious constructors and a leading manufacturer of high-performance sports cars.

Operating out of the McLaren Technology Centre, which is located on a beautiful 500,000 sq. metre site in Woking, Surrey; the company has over 1,000 employees working across the site’s two futuristic work hubs.

The design of these headquarters mirrors the company’s philosophy of pursuing perfection in everything it does, by delivering a working environment that optimises employee performance by putting the health and well-being of its team at the forefront of its operations.

Part of this philosophy includes making active commuting accessible to team members, which gave us the opportunity to make our own contribution to this prestigious workplace.

The solution

To gain a better insight into the client’s requirements, we proceeded with a full site survey, in order to fully understand McLaren’s project brief and meet the key team in person.

It was established that our Two Tier Rack was the ideal solution for this project, balancing functionality with budget constraints. With a counterbalanced upper level, the racks were to offer the users a degree of assistance in loading and unloading their bikes, but without compromising on their need for a low-maintenance solution.

Despite the centre already having landmark security measures in place, it was important that each cyclist had a dedicated locking hoop for their own peace of mind. Our Two Tier Racks offer three independent locking points, designed directly in keeping with Secured By Design standards.

Removal of the existing storage and replacement with our solution saw an increase in cycle spaces of more than 165% at the Technology Centre, with major plans in the works to grow this significantly in the coming years, as McLaren continue to grow their global operations.

McLaren’s success has been built upon a microscopic level of attention to detail which we too are striving to replicate across our design and installation processes.
