Built upon a former Royal Mail sorting office, Mount Pleasant is a residential building development that has been designed to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating.
The site will provide 370 mixed-tenure residential units to Farringdon when completed, and our team were commissioned to deliver bike storage facilities to help achieve their BREEAM accreditation.
This case study focuses on a bespoke 12-space Amazon Eco shelter installed at the site.
One of the primary challenges facing our designers for this project was the limited available space, which required a creative solution to fit the shelter into the allocated area without compromising its functionality or safety.
To achieve this, our team designed a bespoke Amazon Eco structure with elevated posterior uprights that could be securely installed on the adjacent landscaping boundary.
This allowed the shelter to be placed in the most convenient location for residents whilst remaining within the project’s footprint.
This custom-made shelter also features a strengthened sheet metal roof, sedum roofing, and integrated rear guttering.
The strengthened sheet metal roof provides protection from the elements, with the integrated rear guttering ensuring that rainwater diverts away from the bikes.
Installation of the sedum roofing provides a touch of greenery whilst also offering numerous environmental benefits.

Finally, the steel uprights and fascia were clad in sapele timber to create an elegant finish to the installation.
Sapele timber was chosen for its durability and weather resistance, ensuring that the shelter will remain in excellent condition for years to come.
This shelter will provide storage for up to 12 bikes, whilst its open face design makes it easy to access for residents.
