Nielsen bespoke Two Tier Shelter

The Bike Storage Company was commissioned to deliver a variety of aesthetically pleasing street furniture products for the newly built Oxford Headquarters of Nielsen – one of the globe’s leading audience insights and data analytics companies.

With Nielsen placing employee well-being at the heart of their organisational culture, the team were given the objective of delivering a well-considered high specification solution to help promote active commuting and healthy lifestyle.

Alongside delivering products that could meet the high aesthetic expectations of the building project, the team also had to ensure it met the requirements of the local planning authorities and the contractor’s strict budget constraints.

The solution

To fulfil the brief, the team designed and installed a striking custom-built Premium Eastbrook Cycle Shelter with a capacity in excess of 100 bicycle spaces, utilising our Gas Assisted Two Tier Cycle Racks, and with a number of Sheffield stands placed along the front elevation for unrestricted parking of larger Cargo bikes.

To appease the local authority’s specifications, the shelter’s south-facing and westerly elevations were clad in FSC certified timber, whilst the northerly and eastern elevations were clad in high security anti-climb mesh panels. This latter helping to ensure the safety of the cyclists’ bikes and to promote natural surveillance of the store.

A number of Maintenance stations, a bin store and a selection of bespoke benches from our street furniture range were also specified in the project brief, with the items carefully chosen to ensure they complemented the surrounding area.

It was a pleasure for the whole team to be chosen to deliver a landmark project for a world leading organisation like Nielsen, and we are delighted to report the products are looking better and better each time we visit due to the natural silvering of FSC timber.
