Oxford City Council has unveiled ambitious pedestrianisation plans in recent years to help reduce the city’s congestion levels and increase the amount of green space available for its community.
Having adequate infrastructure surrounding these schemes is integral to their success and the out-of-town Seacourt Park & Ride is one of its key pillars: allowing tourists to park outside the city and embrace a re-imagined way of exploring Oxford.
Following extensive re-development as part of the city’s transport strategy, the park and ride was recently re-opened to the public and our team was hired to provide active commuting opportunities to the site.
An initial consultation and site survey with the client gave us a clear project brief of delivering a long-lasting, high-volume, sustainable shelter.
To achieve these objectives, a bespoke Amazon Eco Cycle Enclosure was commissioned for the site.
Every shelter in our Amazon Eco range utilises FSC-certified timber to support responsible forestry, with our ever-popular treated softwood used for this enclosure.

Optimising the space available on the limited footprint of this project added an extra degree of complexity, requiring our design team to create a custom ‘L-shaped’ enclosure.
The enclosure was also built with a galvanised box-profile sheet metal roof and hot dipped galvanised framework to re-enforce its durability.
To maximise the cycle spaces within this unique design, our team delivered 60 spaces courtesy of six five-hoop galvanised Toastrack Cycle Racks.
Finally, solar panels were installed on the roof to further add to its green credentials.
